We hope to re-create three almost forgotten worlds with the help of local people:-
A. Pre-War Years, recollected by people over about 75
B. The War Years, remembered by those over 68
C. The Post War Period, to about 1955, brought back to life by those over about 60
Eras all within living memory, but very strange to the young people of today. Periods when few families had a car or the telephone. The heyday of the cinema, as no-one had television until the very end of the period. A time when few people had ever flown, and space travel was the subject of story books. The world before computers, when children came home to read their comics, or play outside with their pals without supervision and little fear of being molested. A time when there really were 'jobs for life' with many people getting an award from their firms for 50 years of service, and when marriage was also, in most case, for life, with members of most families living within a bus ride of each other.
